As banjo player, Brad is the newest member of The Sheppard Brothers. He joined in the Summer of 2006 when the bands banjo player Emmy, Terry and Shirley's daughter, got married and moved to Nashville. Brad was raised in a bluegrass family in Parkersburg, West Virginia and at the age of 8 he was given a guitar for Christmas, which he played for years. He began playing banjo at the age of 17, when his step-father brought one home for him and began teaching him to read tablature. With his mother on bass, and step-father on guitar, they would play at local jam sessions. Although Brad contributes much of his style to J.D. Crowe, Terry Baucom and Sammy Shelor, he has attained a sound that is his own. Some of the local groups that he has played with are License to Drive where he spent about 6 years, Johnny Staats for one season, and Harvest Time, which was the first band he was part of. Brad is a welcomed new addition, and has brought new life and a new sound to the band. When not playing music, Brad likes sports, fishing, camping and playing with his two children. Brad resides in Cutler, Ohio with his wife Missy and their kids, Aryn and Wesley. |
