The Sheppard Brothers
Shirley Sheppard

Shirley has been playing bluegrass music since she was eight years old.  She first learned to play the guitar, but soon gave that up to play the upright bass which was twice her size.  Being born into a bluegrass family, she became the bass player in her sibling band, "The Brady Bunch," where she played throughout her teen years.   Playing in her family band led her to meet the Sheppard family, where she would later go on to marry Terry Sheppard, the mandolin player for The Sheppard Brothers.  They have been married for thirty two years and have two grown children, Emmy and Scott.   As a member of The Sheppard Brothers for twenty six years, Shirley delivers the duties of a solid upright bass to the band with an occasional slap if you listen close.  When not taking care of the band's bookings, Shirley enjoys gardening, canning and especially baking pies and cakes at her home in Newark, West Virginia.
